In the article,” Planned Parenthood” I learned that overturning this law had many effects on groups of people, and ways were turned to forcefully get the law overturned. This situation started back in 1973 and it legalized the right to have an abortion at any time, and even before this people were making ways to prevent people from the right. Around the time that abortion was overturned, new people were selected, specifically Republicans, and those knowingly against abortion were added to the government.
I feel like the government has a lot of shady things, and even with rules and regulations set in place, there are still ways to create tyranny. This information helps with my research since it helps me understand why it was overturned.
As I continue my learning on this topic, I want to learn the origin of abortion.
Dear Sarah,
Your post makes me think deeply about abortion. Abortion being overturned like you said was very “shady”. Something I wonder about is what was the ratio decision made by the courts?
Hi Sarah! Throughout history, government officials have had their fair share of tyranny and “shady” behavior. The overturning of Roe V. Wade is a prime example of this. I am glad that you expressed how women’s rights, specifically abortion rights, are not a new issue. Making abortions illegal does not stop them, it simply creates dangerous situations for the women who need them. Women’s bodies and what they do with them should not be a political discussion! I found This article that is great if you want to learn more about the origin of abortion and contraception rights.
I fully agree that the government can be slightly shady in times. Roe v. Wade is a classic example of this. It feels as if we went back in time, reversing the good laws put in place. This was for sure a result of the elected republicans, against abortion. Learning the origin of abortion is very important in educating yourself about this matter, and knowing all the facts behind what you may fight for. Protect Women’s Rights!!!
