During our lifetime, there have been many events that have been recorded in our history books and such. Some of those events are sometimes pleasant and to straight-up gruesome and horrifying.

Now with the digital age, it’s more apparent that some of these ¨disturbing videos¨ are getting upload on our social media and it causing a lot of problems and other things.

I, unfortunately, have watched some of these videos, and they are disturbing to the extreme. They are the kinds of videos that are not acceptable and should be deleted from the Internet.

Now my question to you all of the Youth Voices community: Do you think that these videos, in general, should be banned from social media indefinitely. Why do you think this?

Hey Antonio. I strongly agree with you. I too have seen a few very gruesome videos. I don’t really know if videos like these should be completely banned because I don’t know the repercussions of having them around. Although, you can argue that these videos fuel the fire in twisted individuals. I have seen people on the internet talk about how they’ve been desensitized to gore and snuff films because they’ve watched so many. At the end of the day, these videos gain popularity because of human’s innate curiosity. I wouldn’t want my siblings or myself to watch more since every time I have it’s ended in me feeling gross for a day or two.

Dear Antonio,

I agree with you completely on your post “Why the Internet Should Censor Suicide Videos” because no one deserves to see something as heartbreaking as someone taking their own life. The line that I feel is relevant is: “¨disturbing videos¨ are getting upload on our social media and it causing a lot of problems and other things.” Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality of the internet, just like real life, the internet can be a cruel place because there is just so much content on it, you could find almost anything if you desire. I would suggest not digging too deep into the internet as well as avoiding videos that have ‘warning’ before them because they have the potential to very disturbing.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to what you have in store in the future because you discuss topics that aren’t brought up much nowadays due to how sensitive they (the topics) can get.

Good work Antonio. I agree with that you are saying. The internet is a wild place where you can find almost anything, including the disturbing video you write about. I believe this lack of censoring has contributed to forming our generations and the new coming generations. It has made us more aware of the horrors around the world. I am excited to read more form you.

Dear Antonio,
I strongly agree that videos with a disturbing nature should be censored when it comes to being on the internet. These types of videos are extremely unsettling to the human eye and shouldn’t be seen. It can also very disrespectful to the families and friends of these people that may be in the videos. In today’s world children are often exposed to the internet and the imagery can cause a significant amount of trauma. This can affect them in any way possible even how they see the world. I too have seen these types of videos and they do affect me in terms of what I am now sensitive to seeing.

Dear Antonio,

I agree with the fact that these disturbing and saddening videos should not be posted on social media. besides the fact that it is disturbing it is also a sign of disrespect to the person and there families. And they shouldn’t be taken as a joke but as something serious. It hurts to see people post these without the consent of family members and loved ones. And to regular people scrolling through their social media or internet seeing these things can affect them and or give them ideas and making them commit the same thing. So, yes, I do believe that these videos should be taken down from social media.

I think that they should be used for the police but should not be released to the general public. The reason for this Is you don’t know who you might be scarring for life.
