I’m from the sound of children going to school at 6 in the morning

I’m from the delicious smell of ceviche with plantain chips

I’m from the tienda my grandma owns in order

To make enough money to help her 5 children out.

I’m from the coffee factory that I catch a whiff of everytime i pass by it,

On my way to visit my grandma.

I’m from the noisy family that never sleeps on christmas or new years

I’m from the nickname “chiki”

I’m from a huge loving family

I’m from the vendors in the daytime yelling “Granizado! Granizado!”

And kids circling around the vendor to get their cocado’s y dulces de guayaba

I’m from the smell of the beaches that everyone enjoys

I’m from the people singing cumbia till their voice is gone and dancing till their legs give out

And jam out when it’s time for a celebration

I’m from the fresh fish

I’m from the place that can rise after a disaster like

The Earthquake that shocked many.

I’m from the world capital of tuna,

Manta in Ecuador.
