I’m from a small Muslim household.
I am from a household where we treasure our Quran and Prayer rugs.
I am from a household that reflects my religious beliefs and traditions.
I am from a home where we remove our shoes upon first entering to show respect for the home and the family that resides there
The tradition of Ramadan is at the core of my religious teachings. Ramadan reminds me of my trust and faith in Allah and the blessing I enjoy in my life everyday.
l honor my given name. Shahadah that means faith . and I faithfully recite my prayers five times each day.
My roots are embedded in my obedience in my Iman .Like a black cherry tree I stand tall and proud in my .
And like a black cherry tree’s strength, blackness and reach towards the sky this is how I choose to define my life‘s path.

Hi Shahadah! I really enjoyed reading your poem. I’m an English teacher and my students also write “Where I’m From” poems. Some of my students are Muslim and I would love to share your poem with them! I’m sure they will relate to it and be inspired by it. Thank you for posting it!
Shahada,
This was amazing! I love to learning about others beliefs, especially when I do not know much about their religion. personally, I am not a very religious person. However, I do think faith is a really important part of our day to day lives. Keep up the good work.
Shahadah, I really enjoyed this post. It gave me insight to the traditional lifestyle of a Muslim household. I have attended Catholic school my whole life so I have never really been given the chance to understand the life of a Muslim. My favorite part of your short passage was when you said “I am from a home where we remove our shoes upon first entering to show respect for the home and the family that resides there.” I find this very interesting and inspiring that you employ this tradition, as I agree that it shows respect for the whole home and family. Overall, I am happy I clicked on your name to read this post! It’s a wonderful passage. Here is an article that gives you a little look into Catholic traditions. You shared your traditions with me, and I’d like to share mine with you. http://www.beginningcatholic.com/catholic-tradition
Hi Shahadah, nice name! It is interesting to know different religious culture. I am currently attending a Catholic high school however I am not a Catholic, but I enjoy learning different religion. I am curious about your family or religious customs and the environment around your household. Hope you can tell me more about those. Thank you for your post!
