I am from jamming boxes and endless sunlight

I am from glistening glass and constant rainfalls

Tia’s fruits growing, adding color to the backyard

I am from Abuela’s loud and grown dogs

big enough to knock you down and smother you in kisses

I’m from milky coffee, and rice and beans

I’m from Mami, Nathy, and Jda

I’m from old school , a family of singing Marc Anthony tunes while doing the simplest of things

I’m from “no te apure” and “quit fighting your sisters”

I’m from crosses on walls, rosaries on necks

I’m from El Capitan, played in the middle of the street
