In the article, “Is Video Gaming a Sport?”(upfront) talks about video games being a sport. There are many debates on this subject because some people consider video games to be a sport, while others don’t. Video games can improve our reflexes, strategic thinking, and attention spans according to a Co-founder & CEO, of the High school Esports League. He states that we can use esports to teach us sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork. Top players get paid and earn sponsorships from huge companies just by competing in video games. The people who don’t consider video games to be a sport argue that video games do not provide any physical activity like “true” sports.

I believe that video games can be competitive and be considered a sport. I know that there are many sports that do not involve much physical activity like golf or archery. Yet they are considered sports. In a recent encounter with the Fresno Unified School district’s esports team on a CADA field trip. There are many opportunities for video gaming. You can get college tuition because some colleges like Fresno State have esports programs. As someone that is really competitive, I would love to be part of an esports team.

Do you think video gaming is a sport?
