Two videos that I watched were “TED’s secret to great public speaking” and “Good and Bad Examples of Presentation”. During Anderson’s video he expressed that you must connect to the audience, make them relate to your topic. Anderson says to “transfer into their brains” and this could be to implant the idea and make it grow for the view to make that connection. If the way you communicate the idea to the audience could possibly change their lives. The video of good or bad examples of presentations (though some exaggerated) got to the point that people do that. I feel like it can be more subtle but enough to make your presentation bad. This being like reading off the slides or not keeping the slides short. There are less examples of good ways to have a good presentation but it is to the point, be formal and professional, clear slides, good energy (and smile at the audience), and strong body language.
Presentations are scary, number one phobia over death. It is only during the next minutes to come, when I need to present, that I feel nervous. Recently, I have been practicing my year long research project on beauty in the media. I first presented it to class and my voice was really shaky, I paused a lot trying to accumulate my thoughts. My classmates said I did fine but I knew I needed improvement. Some time passed and I presented again, this time I believe I did better by not being shaky, but more confident. The part that is my main focus now, is to not sound monotonous. If that wasn’t needed, then maybe I could have nailed it.
