In today’s society, video games are becoming more and more popular and some of the children prefer to stay at home and playing video games rather than going outside. So, this causes some dilemmas between video games and playing outside and I have decided to do a research about video games and their harms or benefits.

According to a website “Believe it or not, scientific research confirms video games are good for you ( video games are sports, after all).” As a benefits of video games this website lists some of the things like exercising your brain, problem solving and exercising your body. To support that idea this website is touching on to a study which is about video games and brain. In this study there are 2 groups that one of them is playing Super Mario for 30 minutes a day and the other group does not play any. After two months, scientists used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure the size of the brain for each group and the results confirmed that there were differences in the brain structure and that show a “direct link between video gaming and a volumetric brain increase.”

The benefits of playing video games are not only for children. In a different website, it is saying that “Video games are producing better surgeons” and supports that idea by saying “ a study of  laparoscopic (small incision) specialists found that those who played for more than three hours per week made 32 percent fewer errors during practice procedures compared to their non-gaming counterpants. On the other hand, the website says that video games can help you to make new social connections because there is a gaming community too.

In conclusion, the websites that I have searched agree with the benefits of  playing video games on people as soon as the time is limited because I think nobody agrees with the idea of playing video games all day long.

Dear Kutay,
Your post “Video Games and its benefits” was interesting because I play video games everyday and I never knew they can be beneficial. Something that stood out to me was “As a benefits of video games this website lists some of the things like exercising your brain, problem solving and exercising your body.” This stood out to me because I never knew that playing games can benefit the brain.

Hey dear Kutay! your post “Video Games and Its benefits” was so interesting to me,because I play video games and I know how parents feel when their children’s can’t stop looking at the screen during a long time.I think it depends,If little children’s play video games all the time and their parents don’t care or they don’t take control of them and then kids can’t stop playing.I’m a 18 yo guy and I have more experience and I understand more, but kids would be more like “I don’t care,I need to play video games” so this is a real issue in some families. It depends too if kids play video games like after do the homework or many parents who cares about their children’s can put control and teach their kids to play video games more less.

There are many parents who give their kids a specific time to play their video games or some parents who tell them to finish the homework or any work to do at home and then they can play video games for a while .For example when I was 15 yo my parents give me specific time to play but they teach me a lot that I can understand why they don’t wanted me to play a lot.

First of all, I did some research and “scientist and doctors recommend that you should have 20 hours of video games and any other screens per week”, and I thought that it was interesting because in my opinion, thats 3 hours of screens per day and it was generous for the doctors and scientists. One thing that I did not like about your comment was that you typed some words in red, every word and letter should be typed in black, but other than that, your comment was great.

Hey Kutay! After going through all of the posts made by other students this one pulled me in because normally when you hear media talking about video games, they tend to shun the gaming community. I definitely agree with you post because I play video games, like a lot. The connections that I am able to make are very nice. Kids that I meet at school normally have xboxs and it is so nice to just sit down and play some games with them. One of my best friends lives in Ogden (27 miles away from judge) and we rarely get to see each other because him and I are always so busy but we always set aside time during the weekend to get on Fortnite and play together. An example was Saturday. On Saturday we got on xbox at 9 a.m and played until 12 a.m. We have so much fin together because of these gaming devices! If you have a xbox come talk to me because I would love to play with you!
