In the article, “Gun Violence In America” (Everytown Research & Policy 2020) I learned about how guns affect americans. With guns being a part of American culture, casualties are to come. For example, 59% of adults living in america or someone they know have experienced gun violence. Another example is how 3,000,000 children have also experienced gun violence, this shows how many people are affected by guns the fact that it has reach to this extend is showing that america has a gun crisis. Guns also affect domestic violence cases because women in the US are 28 times likely to be with a gun by their partner and in the US, 6 out every 10 gun deaths are suicides. Lastly in the US gun homicide rate is 26 times higher than any high-income countries.
What is happening in America is a huge crisis. Guns affecting so many people has made it into a gun crisis. It’s concerning that guns affect domestic violence situations, children and teens, adults, and suicides.
As I continue to learn about Gun violence in America, I want to know more about who is affected the most from gun violence.
Dear Michael,
Your post made me think about how much Americans are affected by gun violence. You bring I facts that involve how more than 50% of Americans have either experienced or know someone who has experienced gun violence. Something I wonder is what are some ways that gun violence can be slowed down.
Sincerely,
