Utah is the fastest-growing state in the United States. With a population of 3.3 million people, it is expected that over 5 million people will live here by 2050. Our growth has reached unsustainable rates. Not only are we facing a water crisis, we are also facing housing shortages, natural resources shortages and traffic issues. These directly stem from a high amount of people being born every year in Utah, as well as many people from other states migrating to Utah and causing prices to be driven up in our housing market. According to William Carter, Utah will keep growing, but at a slower rate than in the past, and at an even slower rate if Utah does begin to face more serious issues with overpopulation.
