In The Article, “U.S. Uncovers Large Drug Tunnel at California-Mexico Border” (Green 2006) I have learned about the tunnels that are crossing the US-Mexico border underground. These tunnels have been used by Mexican Cartels to smuggle drugs, people, contraband, and many more in and out of the United States. Since the September 11th attacks, More of these tunnels were discovered not only in California, but Arizona as well. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are also discovering tunnels that lead to warehouses that have tons of marijuana stored in them. ICE is also working on trying to dismantle these tunnels and capture the criminal organizations behind them.
I think that these tunnels will cause a very negative impact to our population because with these drugs being smuggled in via these tunnels would mean that crime would also possibly rise.
A question that I have about this topic, why are drugs being smuggled to the United States?
