This I Believe
I believe that it is of the utmost importance to exude an aura of confidence in everything you do in your life. In my life, I have seen, and experienced, both what happens when you have no confidence in the actions you take and when you have the utmost confidence in the actions you take. There is a very large difference in how these feelings affect your life, and I believe that to live life to the fullest, you need to have confidence in yourself.
In the summer before Junior year of high school, I moved again and switched schools for the second time in my life. The first time had been when I was entering the 7th grade and I was deathly nervous of the new setting and the new people I would experience. I suffered through a terrible first few weeks of 7th grade before I made any friends, who then made my experience much easier. I did not have the confidence back then to put myself out there and take the chances to improve my situation, and I was in a pretty terrible positions because of it. Four years later, when I moved again, I was almost completely determined not to go through that experience again, and I did something about it. Over the summer, before school, I joined the cross country summer practice regimen, and made friends with some of the athletes who were there that also happened to be my classmates. When the start of school rolled around, this made the first weeks of classes much easier, and I was able to use those friends as a jumping off point to make new friends and get acclimated to the new school. Throughout I have built up Increased levels of self confidence, and learned lessons I never will forget.
I am so glad that my sophomore self had the confidence to join the summer running program, because it has helped me and my mental state out an immeasurable amount. I have learned through this experience that confidence and confidence in yourself and your actions is of the utmost importance to have, and the feeling of power you get from it makes you feel Invincible.
