In the article “The sneaky truth about memes” (upfront, Laura Anastasla 2021). I learned that memes sometimes have a specific message they try conveying, mainly trying to choose a side or call out something. For instance, people usually post a meme calling out someone or something they disagree with. An example that was said in the article was, let’s say someone finds or creates a meme of a particular football team, making fun of the team or even just showing off a particular game they won, when in reality that football team has been losing the whole season, people will catch on to this and find it offensive from either side, leading to the unnecessary drama that is just so outside of what a meme is supposed to be.
I believe That memes should be able to be shared if you believe they are funny. Now just because they are funny you’d also have to be considerate and think if sharing this meme could offend others. Although yes, there can be different types of humor when it comes to memes, always making sure who you’re sending it to is something you should always consider. Finding out who typically would make this type of meme.
Do you ever find certain memes offensive to you? Have you ever seen the purpose behind specific memes?
Dear Juan
I found your post “The untold truth about memes” very compelling because memes have always been about how the message can convey threw out all people and how it always tiring to make an effort to put a smile on people’s faces.
One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is ‘ believe That memes should be able to be shared if you believe they are funny.” this totally relates to me because of what I said in the Paragraph before and how memes are meant to put smiles on peoples faces and how they put smiles on people faces.
Thank you for writing this inspirational and knowledgeable post you have put. it really shows me how much you care about memes and how they affected different types of people as well as how they can offend people in different ways.

Dear Juan
thanks for writing this article since the truth seemed a bit interesting to me, as well as the name of this post which is The untold truth about memes, although for some people they are not pleasant because they may be strong for certain people but I think not it is necessarily offending someone it depends on how the certain person takes it. well your document is good and I hope it continues to have support.

Dear Juan,
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because you brought up an important point that has been common throughout this generation of teenagers. As memes are growing, the way people this world is also altering. I assume that you are interested in social media, and is something that is being used to shape the way teenagers see political situations.
We all know that memes are funny but it depends on the group/people it’s to and from. Because many memes can be hate messages, racism, or worse.

Dear Juan,
I agree with your post, “The untold truth about memes” because memes can be one of the funniest things to see or one of the most offensive. The thing about memes is that their purpose is to convey a message. And the way it speaks this message is almost always in a sarcastic manner.
One sentence that stands out to me is, “always making sure who you’re sending it to is something you should always consider.” I think this is definitely true because there are some people in this world that get extremely triggered when seeing a meme. Those are the type of people that most avoid sending memes to. However, most people have normalized seeing offensive memes.

Dear Emmanuel,
I agree with your point that memes can have both humorous and offensive meanings. In summary, this echoes what you and I both said which was that memes have a conveyed message. A sentence in your comment that stood out to me was when you said as memes grow, it alters the way people in this world behave. I think this is true and I think this can be for the better or worse. Your overall analysis of Juan’s post is very well done.

Dear Juan, I am intrigued by your article, “The untold truth about memes” because it talks about a topic that is all too familiar. I always understood that memes were just supposed to not just be a joke, but as you said, they convey messages. I think memes are a big part of today’s culture, especially regarding the sense of humor in our generation. One sentence that stands out for me is your example that you used in paragraph one from the Upfront article when it says “let’s say someone finds or creates a meme of a particular football team, making fun of the team or even just showing off a particular game they won, when in reality that football team has been losing the whole season, people will catch on to this and find it offensive from either side, leading to the unnecessary drama that is just so outside of what a meme is supposed to be.” I think this is relatable because I am exposed to these kinds of memes regarding sports all the time. The comment sections of sports memes on platforms such as Instagram or TikTok are full of people who actually thought it was funny and fans of the team that was targeted by the meme being offended and getting into arguments with one another. Thank you for writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because this was a topic that a lot of people should be able to relate to. As someone who is always exposed to memes in some shape or form, this post caught my attention and I will certainly monitor when you write your next one.
