Planned Parenthood is an important organization that provides help to a large amount of the population. Not only do they provide contraceptive and birth control information, but also STD and Cancer screenings, as well as aid for low income families. If Planned Parenthood would be defunded it would severely impact many people who rely on their services.
There is a lot of controversy when it comes to Planned Parenthood because of their services provided to help women with their choices when it comes to pregnancy. People think that abortion procedures are the only service Planned Parenthood provides but that’s untrue. Some of the many benefits Planned Parenthood provides are cancer screenings and testing for STDs. In 2013 it was recorded that 41% of people get STD testing provided for them at many Planned Parenthood clinics. They also provide over 320,000 breast exams a year in an effort to combat breast cancer early.
Planned Parenthood is an irreplaceable health care provider that allows low income families, such as people with medicaid, to receive treatment they would not be able to get anywhere else. In fact, Planned Parenthood is one of the few clinics that provides ob-gyn care and accepts medicaid. Without these healthcare centers, many people would have nowhere to turn.
Planned Parenthood also provides teens with information and services. A major way they do this is with their Teen Council. Local teens may go to talk with their peers and educated leaders about sexual health and relationship issues.
We believe that Planned Parenthood is essential to many Americans in order to live healthy lives. Defunding this organization would affect many people and Americans should stop this from happening. If you take time to understand this organization it is clear it should be saved. Do you agree?
