This article speaks of the relationship between materialism and progressing affects on the state of the environment. In the article it states, “The endless pursuit of increasing rates of production and consumption under consumer capitalism has contributed to environmental problems such as the depletion of natural resources, biodiversity loss and climate change enhancement.” This represents the structures caused by these patterns of constant materialism and the need to purchase more. The more that items are wanted and purchased, the more corporations will produce, essentially causing a rise in pollution as well as many other detrimental environmental factors.
