The Article “How to Start Talking About Race in the Early Elementary Classroom” explains different methods for bringing up topics of bias and prejudice racially at an early age so kids better understand what is happening and are prevented from being biased or prejudiced themselves. They mentioned teachers having books with all different races experiencing normal everyday childhood activities. Students should be exposed to diverse authors, mathematicians, scientists, musicians, and more. Also, having an open discussion about race and accepting each other’s differences is the foundation to explore what makes others themselves and what makes the student themself. One of the most important aspects in early childhood along with school is parents modeling good actions for their kids. By having discussions and being open-minded as adults, it encourages their children to do the same.
