At the height of the pandemic, school closures and social isolation have affected all students, especially those in poverty. A mental health crisis has emerged as many students lost access to the services that are offered by schools. Studies have shown that the coronavirus will undo months of academic gain. There is a big difference between summer learning loss and pandemic-related learning loss. Participating in classes fully online created new obstacles that hindered learning progress. It has been predicted that students will experience substantial drops in reading and math.
