hot and sticky like fresh taffy the air hangs down on me
it pushes on me like an extra gravitational force
but i couldnt feel more free
three girls make their way down the winding path laughing
the sound rings in my ears
and brings a smile to my face
until we reach the green pool at the bottom
a trickle of water leaving it then crossing a bend to become a stream
we poke the top of it with sticks that come back coated in green slime
and we reach to widen the delta to fill the void
our rainboots filling up with mud holding us down
and helping the air push us back as we soar into the sky
down we come splash splash splash

Inspired by Nikki Giovanni “winter poem”
