In the article, “Should Student Debt be Forgiven?” (BTW, May 2022) I learned that some people think it should and some think the opposite. People think they should not forgive student debt because it will add to the national debt we have already. They also believe this due to the fact that it will not change the result of college being too expensive for many families. Some people think that it should be forgiven since there is already a program for it and it can benefit the program’s resources while expanding their support. In addition to this, it makes many young adults who are done with college pay back the money they are making and conclusively struggle financially.
I can see both sides of this argument and I agree with both opinions. However, the side I would argue with more is that student debt should be forgiven. It can be a financial burden many years after college and make people struggle in other subjects in their life. While we know college is expensive, we also know how hard it is to get out of debt, especially if it has been many years.
