I chose to use this fact because of how surprising it was to hear for the first time. I thought that this image would speak to people’s ethos, because of the cute little kid in the picture, along with the really troubling information.
Without knowing the history of America, it wouldn’t make sense why many Native Americans are in such a bad place today. By showing the root of the problem, it turns the eye toward the perpetrators, not the victims. The image just adds evidence to the fact.

This was one of the most surprising statistics that I came across. It just shows that trauma really is passed down through generations, and the actions of the Colonists still have a resounding impact on the existing Native American Communities. This image looked like it fit the mood, since it’s desolate and depressing.
