In the article “Is America and Christian Nation? Yes and No,” I learned that this piece questions where the United States stands religiously. It shows that this question is a much more difficult question than it seems. He explains how this question isn’t simply answered with only a yes or no. The history of this topic and how America was founded on the basis of Christianity is shared to portray the significance of religion in the US and for freedom of religion and the separation of Church and State. This article is to inform the reader about how the separation of church and state has been interpreted over the years. It shows the reader how the US isn’t a Christian nation, showing separation, and how it is since it was founded on the basis of this religion.
This article gave me a different perspective on issues with religion and government in the United States because I never took into consideration the history of America and how Christianity influenced its establishment on this land. This article will help me with my research because it gives me general information about the conflict between Church and State and can also be used for background information about this issue. It helps me answer my research questions because it shows that the interrelation between religion and government is much more complicated than it seems.
