Hi my name is Latrell and this is my poem. This poem is about how it connects to Romeo and Juliet throughout my life and how I feel and how other people feel around me in my community.
What is my faith?
Is it to take place in my mother or father place
Or maybe to follow in my brothers
Footsteps as a younger aset in the streets
Bullets whisper into my ears
Telling me to look for revenge
Look for the person who
Killed
My brother
Mother and father don’t know
What I’m planing but it gonna be
A
Bang
Mother and father
Was never around so I had it on my own
Like a dog looking for a bone
Two weeks later I had a gun a little heave
But not too shabby
I close my I eyes and pray
I hear my brother voice and it starts to fade
Away I cry and wish for the better
But that didn’t matter time was moving
And so was I
Ready to kill the ones
Responsible and why
Cause things aren’t the same
No more me and him
Was like something
You wouldn’t believe
But chief called and said love
Ant it
bullets got louder
For my brothers death
When I found the ones that was responsible
I killed them it was easy
Soon enough me and
Revenge
fell in love
But it was still
Tuff for me to move on
But me and revenge
Will forever be a bond
Dear Latrell,
Thank you so much for sharing your poetry. A line that stood out to me was “Bullets whisper into my ears” because this line was very poetic as well as meaningful.
A connection I made to your poem was The Hate You Give because Starr’s best friend is killed and she feels overwhelming sadness because of it.
Your poem also reminded me of how the families of Romeo and Juliet must have felt after they died, the overwhelming sadness and loss.
Thank you so much for writing and I look forward to reading your next post.
