In the article, “Should plastic straws be banned?” (Upfront, May 13, 2019 subscription required), I learned that many people throw away millions of plastic straws every day. A lot of that plastic ends up in the ocean and is harmful to the marine animals. Millions of marine animals die each year from plastic waste.
Plastic straws are so dangerous and we should not use them. Only like nine percent of all plastic waste generated over the years has been recycled. It can release chemicals to soil, air, and water that are harmful to animals but also the people, plants, and the environment. Plastic straws can easily be swept into the ocean and break down into microplastic particles. Its scary how this also affects the water we all drink.
Dear Patricia,
I was very intrigued by your post “Reduce the use of plastic straws” because I very much agree that the use of straws should be limited everywhere we go. Limiting the use of plastic straws can help out the ocean and lower the percentage rate.
One sentence that stood out to me was ” Only like nine percent of all plastic waste generated over the years has been recycled. It can release chemicals to soil, air, and water that are harmful to animals but also the people, plants, and the environment.” This stood out to me because the percentage rate is extremely low. Its very concerning on how people dont do nothing to help out the ocean.
Thank you for writing, I cant wait to hear about what you have to write about next because this post was outstanding, and very easy for me to understand what the main point was.

Dear Patricia,
I strongly agree with your post, “Reduce the Use Of Plastic Straws” because single-use of straws are inefficient, therefore, if we were to use reusable ones it would never be a problem for animals to get harmed.
One sentence that stood out to me the most is, “It can release chemicals to soil, air, and water that are harmful to animals but also the people, plants, and the environment. Plastic straws can easily be swept into the ocean and break down into microplastic particles.” This stood out to me the most because it’s just as easy for it to break down into microplastic particles and can easily damage animals themselves can easily lead to particular species of animals going extinct.
Thank you for your writing, I will definitely be looking forward to what you will be writing next. It’s important to be informed of information like this because individuals need to eventually stop the use of plastic so we can have a healthier environment.

dear patricia
I agree with your post Reduce the use of plastic straws since it is a good idea for society and the environment and not do more harm to marine animal.
one sente what a like is many people throw away millions of plastic straws every day. A lot of that plastic ends up in the ocean and is harmful to the marine animals. Millions of marine animals die each year from plastic waste.
Thank you for writing this post and so maybe you can get them to see that the use of plastic is bad since it gets too contaminated and as you said too many animals die from this cause.

Dear, Patricia
I can agree with your post, “Reduce the use of Plastic straws” since straws are a danger to our ocean and we wanna protect it by using less plastic and more Eco-friendly straws that can make our ocean a better place as it will not only help sea life but our environment.
One sentence that stood out the most to me the most was “Plastic straws can easily be swept into the ocean and break down into microplastic particles. It’s scary how this also affects the water we all drink” this stood out the most because this detail lets us know the dangers of plastic as they bring many issues to our environment.
Quesion: What would we need to do to make plastic reduce in use is to have limits where plastic should be at as for the cities in the bay area it should be more limited to plastic compared to other towns or cities nowhere near the ocean.
Thank you for writing his post about this issue “Reduce the use of plastic straws” as it made me learn a lot of what changes we could do to make our world a different place.
Dear, Patricia, I agreed so much with your post, “Reduce the use of Plastic straws” because straws are very replaceable we should buy eco-friendly straws were they are made from bamboo, glass, silicone, and stainless were it can be reuseable help prevent plastic in our oceans and prevent any animal, especially the ocean. To help protect not only our animals but our environment.
One sentence that stood out to me was “Plastic straws are so dangerous and we should not use them.” This stood out to me because it is very true I feel like we should be staying away from plastic because it affects the environment where is not only in the ocean but everywhere.
Question: As people, we are the most responsible we should do better where should discontinue straws and people stop getting straws because clearly, we don’t know how to touse them after.
Thank you for writing, this post was straightforward I understand what the main point was, this post was very outstanding, and good information that everyone should know of.
Dear Patricia, I was very intrigued by your post “Reduce the use of plastic straws” because I very much agree that the use of straws should be slowed by restaurants, stores, etc, or even just have a reusable one.
One sentence that stood out to me was “only nine percent of plastic is actually ever recycled”. this stood out to me because we here think that with the little we recycle were doing something good but that’s false, only a very little amount ever does get recycled. meaning we should slow the use of plastic.
Thank you for writing, I cant wait to hear about what you have to write about next because this post was outstanding, and very easy for me to understand what the main point was.
While yes, I agree that single-use straws are inefficient and that reusable straws are objectively better for the environment, consider that it is more than just straws. All types of single-use plastic break down into microplastics polluting our one and only earth. I think we should all move towards bringing our own utensils to places that typically use single-use plastics. It is also simply the more responsible thing to do.
