In the article “Should the U.S. Government Provide a Path to Citizenship for Undocumented Immigrants?” (Britannica 2022) I learned that many people think that immigration should be allowed and others think that it should not be allowed. On one side it says that immigration is a good thing to have because most of the tax money that people pay comes from immigrants. Immigrants contributed to $20.1 billion in 2018. On the other side people say that immigration should be illegal because lots of immigrants enter the US illegally by skipping their citizenship without permission.
What I think about the topic of immigration is I say that it should be allowed because the people who enter the US want to have a better life for their family and they aren’t doing anything wrong. The immigrants come to the US for work and for their children. I think that if the immigrants don’t have a criminal record then they should be allowed in the US.
As I continue to learn about the immigration issues, I want to know more about the pros and cons of immigration.
Dear Roman,
I agree with your opinion on the views on immigration. I think that the only reason that immigration is viewed negatively is because of the stereotypes that people are given. For example, Mexicans are viewed as drug dealers but in reality, they are hard-working men and women who come seeking better jobs and a safer place for their families. I also belive that Latinos and immigrants in general do the work that Americans want to do. I think immigration is not something that people should be against.

Dear Roman,
Your post made me think about the amount of immigrants that try and come into the United States either every month or every year. It also makes me think about the children who may have been born in the U.S. and then their parents came in illegally, if their parents end up getting deported, how might the children feel and where would they go. Something I wonder is if there are some people of the same origin who may think that some immigrants are unfair for entering illegally.
Sincerely,
Hazel
