In the article, “Pandemic Prevention” (Kyler, Mcgraw Hill) I learned the many aspects of a pandemic and if it was possible to prevent the next one. The author believes that it is possible to prevent the next pandemic or even limit the harm to the economy. The first way to prevent this may be by extending our knowledge of handling animals. It’s known to be a common exponent that has happened before. Another way is protecting our forests more and not cutting down on livestock and cropland while taking them out is known to bring diseases to crops and livestock that we fed on. The last way is to observe things we failed on and things we did well on so we can make more improvements.
I think these are major components to take into consideration for possibly preventing future pandemics such as the one we are going through now. It was a rough time for many of us having to go through this pandemic and we should understand why this happened. I would like to live in a world where we didn’t have to worry about every cough and sneeze we get.
What are some ways you think we can handle the pandemic better or prevent them?
