I read “Overfishing: How does overfishing affect sharks and rays?”
This article gives a good overview on what overfishing is, how it affects sharks, and some ways we could reduce overfishing. It mentions how 100 million sharks fall victim to overfishing every year, and it’s making a lot of species endangered, especially with global fish consumption rising 122% since 1990. We can’t just shut down fisheries due to the near 200 million people who rely on this for an income, but we can increase regulations. We could also push companies to look more into aquaculture options.
