I chose to read a passage from Othello (5.2.397-406). In this scene, I played Othello. By comparing my performance to the performance in the movie, it was obvious how dry my tone is. I have a hard time fluctuating my voice, and it took a lot of emotion out of the passage. However, I still understood how this passage should be done if it were done by a good voice actor. In this scene, Othello is in his lowest moment. He has killed his wife and just found out he was tricked into doing so. He has lost all his honor and self respect and is about to go to jail. This passage is Othello’s last wish to the world that once loved him. Obviously, he is somber, desperate, and wrought with guilt.
