My mom was born in the Dominican Republic. She was two weeks old when my grandmother moved with her and my two uncles to the United States. My grandfather stayed in the D.R. for a little longer but then joined them. My father was also born in the D.R.

I was born in New York. I was named Sadiel after my mother, Sugen. I went to school in Hamilton Heights all the way up to the 5th grade. Then I went to middle school at 168th Street. I traveled to the D.R. as a kid. As far as work goes, I have done chores for money but I plan to get a job this summer. I like playing Basketball, Football, and Xbox.

I am lucky to still have all the people who are close to me.

Dear Sadiel,

I am intrigued by your post because… You share family background (not tryna be weird, I just think it’s cool), some of your favorite things to do. And I am also from the Dominican Republic.

One thing you said that stands out for me is: “ My grandfather stayed in the D.R. for a little longer but then joined them.” I think this is interesting because… My grandfather also lived in D.R and moved to New York, (with my grandmother) but eventually moved back and lives there full time.

Thanks for your project. I look forward to seeing what you write next because it seems like we have a lot in common, and We could definitely have stories to share.

I am from Harvest Collegiate too.
