In our world we tend to hear that it is good to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, but what does exercising really do for our body? Well the most important thing exercise does for your body is it helps with digestion, releases toxins from your body, reduces risks of diseases, and reduces blood pressure. Not only that but it helps keep your joints and muscles healthy. It also releases endorphins which helps increase your mood and make you happier. It does not only have short term effects but also long term effects that can lead to a happier and healthier future.
Especially in hard times like right now, where you might be bored or your mood might start to shift exercising is very essential. The reason exercising increases your mood is, because when you move you release endorphins. “Endorphins are our body’s natural hormones that get released when we are doing something that requires a burst of energy — they are the things that make us perform, make us move,” according to Dr. Gotlin. The release of endorphins is what causes a runner’s high. Not only that, but it can boost your self esteem, reduce anxiety, and reduce stress levels. Which will lead to a happier life.
Along with boosting your mood, exercising helps your muscles and joints stay active. This can help prevent stiffness of muscles, but it can also keep your muscles and bones strong. Not only does exercising help keep your muscles strong, but it gives you energy. “Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently.” Over time this can help increase your energy while doing simple chores around the house. While your energy levels will be higher during the day, this will lead to a better sleep. Because exercising is a very intense physical activity when going to bed after exercising it will result in a much better sleep, because you have raised your heart rate. So next time your hesitation to go to the gym, remember all of these benefits and think again!
