Good afternoon. My name is Davante and I am from garden heights, in the United States of America. Thank you for allowing me to address this commission on the topic of mass incarceration and police brutality.
I am Davante and I live in garden heights, and I’ve seen a lot of crime and poverty in my community mostly towards black and brown folks. Many of my close friends have gone to jail or are dead due to drugs or police brutality. My best friend Khalil is not here today because of this menacing problem of racial injustices in the streets, the courtroom, and jailhouses across America.
I am presenting my case to the human rights commission to make the united nation countries aware of the problems of the US criminal justice system, I am pleading for the un to call upon the United States to require regular, systemic evaluations of the US criminal justice system, with a focus on racial inequalities. Some opponents might say that we have no racism in America anymore since slavery has long been gone, but my testimony will prove them wrong.
I want the UN to support my resolution, instead of allowing America to criminalize its black and brown citizens. America should work to provide more jobs and business opportunities to address the racial inequities in urban and poor areas like garden heights. The united states need to do something to reduce mass incarceration and police brutality. They should support this resolution to address the high crime and poverty in communities like Garden Heights and thereby focus on the racial inequalities in America.
What do you think the US should do about this mass incarceration and creating more jobs for people who have been previously incarcerated?
