Good afternoon. My name is Carlos. Thank you for allowing me to address this commission on police brutality and mass incarceration. I’m a police officer. In addition to being in the police force, I am considered an abuser of power. But as a black man in America, I can’t buy that character. Since 1973, Mass incarceration has increased by 500 percent. More than 250,000 civilians are injured each year due to police brutality. As a person of color, I want the United Nations to uphold justice against racially charged black and brown people. America should try to provide jobs to poorer neighborhoods like garden heights. And more opportunities for black businesses to reduce racial inequality. America must do more to fight mass incarceration and police brutality
