Mental health is an important topic that needs to be touched on multiple times, especially with men. Men’s mental health often times gets overlooked or miss diagnosed. Men have always been told that they have to be strong and show no emotion. This causes then to struggle internally because they don’t feel safe/comfortable expressing themselves. Because of this their suicide rate is actually higher than women’s suicide rate. They feel like they don’t have anyone to talk to or help them with their struggles. Men typically stress about the financial burdens of their families or about work, and this causes them to turn to alcohol or drugs to help them cope with their issues. They want to either feel numb or feel everything good inside of them. This leads to an excessive amount of use and results in addiction. There needs to be more male mental health awareness, because it can save a life.
