I’m glad that you are taking about this topic because rascal is still very big in our society. Especially racism in education, it is something that needs to change. I can’t wait to read your full post when you’re done.
I am not familiar with this movement or statement, I have never heard of it before but, it was interesting to read. It seems like people are putting tis into practice and they are speaking up for themselves in a very interesting way.
Being a person of color is harder than you may think. Especially when it comes to the crimes that are committed. In my research, I wanted to know why people of color get harder criminal sentencing than people not
Dear Ellisandra, I am currently reading Dead Man Walking to and I also was surprised about the whole African American thing. I am Black and it sucks watching people of your own color sometimes get put in a situation just because of skin color. It is sickening on how corrupt our world is. Like you said no matter the reasons, they should be stopped…[Read more]
This was a beautiful poem, coming from a person that has been damaged and different, This made a lot of sense to me and I am happy that you found someone that helped you. Keep writing this was amazing 🙂
You are right. Bad days never last unless you make them last. Tomorrow will always be better and you owe it to yourself to keep motivating you. This poem was really touching and I enjoyed reading it. 🙂
Bella, That you for reminding me that I am a person that is strong, loved and cared about. This is a message that all teens need with all the stress they have throughout their teen years. I loved this poem and it makes me see that I am important. Thank You! 🙂
Elliot, This is such a beautiful poem, I love poems and this one was amazing. For me personally I can relate to a lot of things in this poem, that is what makes it so beautiful and emotional to me. Keep up the good work. 🙂
I agree with you. Personally for me I lack sleep. With everything going on for me at school with grades and college applications, its hard to find a time for sleep. I think if schools pushed the time from being there at 8 to being there at 9 would be helpful. I totally agree with everything you said and hopefully the school can work it out…[Read more]
Dear Destiny, I really get where you are coming from. I am from Salt Lake City, Utah and I also live in a neighbor hood that has shootings and stuff and little children getting hurt around every corner. I grew up with that all my life. Like you said people just kill for no apparent reason and it makes me sick. I really like your story though. I…[Read more]
I agree with you. For me personally I am a girl that is tall and skinny and people always told me throughout my lifetime that I need to have curves. I am happy with what I look like and I am proud. The
An average teenager should have at least 9 and a half hours of sleep. For me personally, I literally get like 4 hours of sleep every night. So to answer my question, the reason I sleep so much is because I don’t g
I am intrigued by your post because you talk about sleeping and I am a great example of a person who sleeps a lot whether in the afternoon or night. I have had many experiences with me sleeping a lot. Sleep is very important since it helps you grow. One thing you said that stands out for me is, “Teenagers also have irregular sleep because they stay up late and sleep in late which makes them and it hurts the quality of their sleep.” I think this is interesting because as technology progresses the more we become attached to certain things. For example with phones or video games teens usually stay up with those devices until they can’t handle their tiredness and eventually fall asleep. Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. One time, my mom scheduled me a doctor’s appointment because I “sleep too much” in her opinion. I entered the doctor’s office and my mom started explaining to the doctor that I am not as active and take too much naps during the week. The doctor told her that what i am going through is perfectly normal. Almost every teen goes through this stage where they grow very tired during the day and take naps. It simply means you are growing. Thanks for your project. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because i can very much relate to what you just posted.
This is a youth-powered social network that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It's easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other's work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it's been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
