• The confluence of multiple socioeconomic inequities in the South Bronx throughout the 1970s gave rise to a music genre that eventually developed into a full fledged political movement. The genre, however, has

Beyond being simply a genre of music, hip hop has become a platform for African Americans to address

    • Seth, I think this is such a great thing to be researching. I love how you discuss the political affiliations of hip hop music, as well as the role played by the corporate world in music. I think it would be very interesting to see how this applies to modern hip hop music and what artists are especially known for using the platform to express their opinions. Really great job!

    • Seth,
It is very interesting how you discovered the different outsourcing regarding hip hop music, and thee contrast between the old and new genres of hip hop. I look forward to your further research.

  • This is a very interesting topic. A lot of the members of Odd Future have left the group to pursue solo careers. You may want to research if there is as much interest in these solo careers as there was for the group. I agree that their sound is very “blunt” and I’m very curious what interesting things you will find as you continue your research.

  • These sources seem reputable and informative. I think many would agree that the use of the bomb in that situation was appropriate given that it, in the end, would save 1 million lives, as you mentioned. However, for the purpose of writing an argumentative essay it may be beneficial to include a source that does not support the dropping of the…[Read more]

  • I think it would be interesting to look into how the tax revenue is utilized in these states. For example, in Colorado I believe they use a lot of the marijuana tax revenue to fund their education system. This means that a lot of money is being dedicated towards drug education and prevention programs.

  • This is a very interesting topic. I think it also would be interesting to look into how these psychological problems effect the behavior of the inmates once they are released. Prison is supposed to be a primarily rehabilitating experience that helps create citizens better prepared to be contributing members of society. If they are forced to live…[Read more]

  • Modern day hip hop can be traced back to the “economically depressed South Bronx section of New York City” in the late 1970s. Many young people would often meet at parks, block parties or street corners where DJs

    • Dear Seth

I am inspired by your picture because it shows how things looked back then. It showed me how music covers looked like. And you taught me that back then people like to listen to jazz. I thought that they just heard hip hop. thank you for your post I look forward to seeing what you make next.

  • Talmadge,
When continuing your research on ADHD medication I think it may be beneficial and interesting to look into the abuse of medication like Adderall by people without the disease it is meant to treat. When it comes to the benefits of the drugs for people with ADHD I think that Doctors probably know best, however the issue of addiction is…[Read more]

  • Recently income inequality in the United States has risen to levels not seen since the years prior to the Great Depression. The gap between the rich and poor is growing wider and I fear that general inequality

    • Dear Seth,

I agree that DNA modification can be used to do much good like for example biologists have been able to take away HIV cells away from rats. they have also been able to take out Hemophilia B in early testing like you said. But DNA modification can also permanently and severely damage things such as embryos or eggs. Damaged embryos can cause defects and possibly even death. The bad thing is that this DNA modification process is irreparable. This process might be the way of the future by being able to edit embryos can have a variety of good and bad outcomes.

    • I agree completely with what you are saying here Seth. I too wonder what the world would be like with genetic modification as a possibility. The fact that there might be an actual backing for racism based on DNA differences instead of just pigment differences. People will always have traits that they do not want but to me these deformities afe what make us humans, no one is perfect and everyone is special in their own way because of slight differences in genetics, but if genetic modification is a possibility, it causes that slight genetic difference to become so large that it actually makes a difference between people, causing prejudice and racism to become a viable argument that cannot be refuted because genetics have caused people to be better than other people.

  • Since I am a man it is difficult for me to comment on the subject of sexism because I have not experienced it. However, in talking to my classmates and family I have found that sexism is extremely widespread but is often very subtle which makes it hard to distinguish, especially for men. The question is, where do we go from here? I think that the…[Read more]

I agree with your opinion that GMOs are safe and beneficial. I remember researching about GMOs a few years ago and recall learning about how scientists have genetically modified rice by adding Beta Carotene. In doing this they were able to introduce the vitamin into populations that typically do not have access to it, specifically in West Africa.…[Read more]

  • Hi Jayna,
I will begin by saying that I supported Hillary Clinton for President. I am an African American and I felt particularly threatened by some of Donald Trump’s proposals. You said that you hope the “bad or racist-seeming proposals” don’t become law. While I respect that you can identify some issues with your candidate I think it is…[Read more]

  • I, along with many other who have commented, know what it is like to wear a uniform. I think wearing a uniform definitely decreases the likelihood of bullying when it comes to the clothes we wear which may be especially concerning for those who can’t afford to buy new clothes that often. However kids will absolutely find other reasons to bully…[Read more]

  • What a thoughtful post! I agree that the clown epidemic is concerning but I don’t think there is much we can do about it aside from punishing those few that are caught. I don’t think the President should get involved with stopping the clowns but I do think that responsibility on social media should be addressed at schools. To touch on your point…[Read more]

  • Abortion is a very important topic and while I respect your opinion, I disagree. I think it is important that we look at the circumstances that would lead a woman to choose to have an abortion. Many pregnancies are terminated because of an inability to fully support that child. The average cost to raise a child to the age of 18 is about $304,480.…[Read more]

I completely agree with Annika, what a profound comment. Finesse is important in taking advantage of people and climbing up the corporate ladder. Hopefully I can improve my ability to finesse people so I can become successful.
