Genetic engineering is when the genetic code of an organism is changed to produce a desired trait. By taking two genes and combining them you produce the trait you want.  All living things have DNA but none are

Rayondre, thank you for sharing these facts and your opinion. I understand your hesitation of genetic engineering, but think of all the great things it could do in the future. I agree with your hesitation on genetic engineering on the front of “designer babies”, or babies that their parents can pick their eye color, hair color, etc. I believe that we should be exploring more of how to prevent genetic disorders, such as down syndrome and cystic fibrosis.

      Hi Rayondre
I really liked reading your post. I think your technique idea is helpful. I personally have try music as a way to lessen my stress. I think that it helps in some ways. It just kinda gives be a break. It allows me a minute to decompress. But then when the music stops and I have to face the thing that is stressing me out the stress level just increases from before the music. One idea that I think works is counting to ten. What other ideas do you have?

This is a technique I’ve used without even knowing it was one! I’m happy to hear someone else has similar ways of dealing with stress and bad situations. It’s a peaceful way to tune it all out and get your mind back on track and I think everyone should have their own way of figuring it out, so thank you for helping others find a comforting way to escape, even for a minute or two.

I personally use music to calm me down, however I like to have a rubber band around my wrist and play with it whenever I feel stressed. It works out really well.

About us

This is a youth-powered social network that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.

We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It's easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other's work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it's been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.

If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
