    My divorce and break-up.

Harmonee was my best friend and wife from middle school in Houston. I was in 8th grade when we met. We met in the cafeteria after school, but we started talking when a guard took us to art. I...

American Dream vs Indians vs My Experience.

Even though people might think everything is perfect or better in the U.S., it isn't. Ask the Native Americans. People think houses are clean, beautiful, and almost perfect. They think it’s very safe, and they think that employment is...

  • One of my favorite pieces of advice is “You can’t please everyone.” Most/some people live by what other people might say, or think, so they don’t enjoy life as much as they could or should, and the thing is that most people talk because they can’t stand seeing other people happy, just because they aren’t happy.

  • A life hack is good advice, with good advice comes a great life, so pay attention to it. Drinking water is a good advice. If I feel down, I just give advice to people and I feel so much better, even though I don’t follow it.

  • Dear Khoa,

I was told your name was Juan, or at least that’s what I heard the first time I met you. You are right about not knowing how to spell your name, you kinda forgot I can’t say it either-… Anyways, I am intrigued by how you live with five hours of GaoRanger, I would love to learn more about that. One thing piece of imagery that…Read More

    My Life in a Poem

. I am made of staying in my room all day, doing my homework, and listening to music, while telling my parents to find a new hobby other than just yelling at me that I don't do anything, as if...

    • Hey, it’s me, the guy who spells his name K-h-o-a. I really like your concept of image. It’s beautiful, nine on ten. Also i love your poem. It’s very interesting about how you tell about your habits and dreams. I want to travel around the world too. I hope i can see more post from you
(P.s: I hope you can follow your dreams) <3

    • Dear Nicolle,
I am excited about your poem because you stayed in my room all day, doing my homework and listening to music while telling my parents. This is very cool. I think.
One thing piece of imagery that stands out for me is traveling all together from across the world to the other, of leaving no one behind, even if we’re risking the whole world. I think this is interesting because you are unique.
Your poem connects to my own experience. I think we have common things but the main thing that is different to me is that you tell your parents about your hobby they yelled at you but my parents don’t do this.
Thanks for your work on Youth Voices. I look forward to seeing what you write next because <my thoughts is great with you I think some common between me and>

    • Nicolle, I really enjoyed this poem and the metaphor you used, “the coach doesn’t play, only teaches.” It really reminded me of my own friends or teammates who give me advice and I don’t know what to do with it. I would love to hear another poem because of the great techniques you used (Rhythm and Metaphor.) to great success. I also loved the topic and how you talked about your parents because I feel the same way at times. Thank you for the poem and hope you write more!
