    • Great Job Vanessa, I think your topic is very interesting and never thought about it, as someone who doesn’t play sports. The idea of repeating a saying can change someones overall performance in sports is a new idea to me. It is interesting to think about connecting a physical activity to the mental activity of mantras, and a certain mentality.

    • I think this is a great topic that could also be related to academics. I believe mental toughness could significantly help some students in a transition from sports to school to show them the challenges faced can be beaten with persistence.

    • I like your research so far, I never really considered or thought about the tactics and practices used by Wayne Halliwell. I think that mental toughness can carry on into other aspects of life, not just athletics. I really like where you are taking this!

    • I think this is a really great topic of research. Plenty of people talk about sports performance, but not enough people talk about the mental aspect. This is what makes or breaks you. Understanding the importance of self esteem and self confidence is an important element in order to be a leader and succeed. Be able to shake off your mistakes and continue to play your game is very important!

      Well done

    • I agree! It’s amazing that Utah has one of the best homeless populations in the state, yet we still recognized we need to make a change. What are some ways you suggest? Are they practical?

    • I agree that this is a very big problem in our current country and in the world. It is something that can only be fixed by people coming together and making a difference. There should be more ads or companies trying to help out the homeless because though we may not be able to provide everyone with a home we can do things like help give food clothing and other need to them to help make their lives easier. I have also noticed that a lot of the homeless people are veterans and i feel that it is super unfair that they go out and fight for all our freedoms and to protect us and then come back and do not have anything. They put their lives on the line to protect us and we are not doing anything to help and protect them when they come back. There need to be more done on this subject.

    • Hey Vanessa,
I don’t know if you have heard, but right now in Salt Lake City there is huge controversy about homelessness.
In early December mayor Jackie Biskupski and the Salt Lake City Council chose four new homeless shelter sites in secret. Not only are the salt lake city residents upset about being left in the dark, but they are also upset at the locations of the shelters which are in residential neighborhoods. There also has been criticisms on whether this plan will “help” out outrageous homeless population in Salt Lake. The Road home is being shut down which sleeps 1,100 homeless people and 4 new shelters are opening (each sleeps 150 people). If you do the math, they are actually cutting the beding by 500.

    • Dear Vanessa,
I agree that this is a very big problem in our current country and in the world. It is something that can only be fixed by people coming together and making a difference. There should be more people speaking out on this because it is such a big issue.A lot of veterans are homeless and that is pretty sad if they have PTSD they should get treated and be able to get a job but companies don’t hire them. They risk their lives fighting for the country that they live in and that country gives them nothing in return. I can’t believe this is still an issue. This subject should be touched on more and more people need to make a difference.

    • Dear Vanessa,
You are totally right, I also feel that the homeless population is growing. I feel that every time there’s just more and more homeless. This issue needs to be addressed. We should all contribute to this issue, because the more we wait without helping, the more the population of homeless will grow. It’s sad like you say, that there’s homeless struggling to find food, and to have clothes. I hope that people start paying more attention to this issue and help. Good job on the post Vanessa keep it up.

    • I agree with Colin Kaepernick because he took a big risk for his future in the nfl, but its some battles you can’t win. This is bigger than football and the USA it was supposed to be a free country not a kill black one.

    • Thank you. You are completely right about Con 3. There was a mistake that was suppose to be a Pro 3.

    • Vanessa,
I would really like you to take a side in the Colin Kaepernick debate and write about that. Your post almost just feels like a news story and, by now, I feel like everyone knows what happened. I would find it more interesting if you took a side so as to start a debate with other users.

    • This is an issue I have recently been interested in and I was glad someone was writing about it. First of all your article had great information, and you brought up some very good points. My opinion is that I don’t think he should have sat down because it shows disrespect to our country. No matter how many issues and horrible things are happening this is still our country. However I do support the kneeling, this is showing even more respect than standing. Through this these players are supporting the #blacklivesmatter movement and still being respectful. This was a great alternative to sitting down and I think these players are doing the right thing. That’s all and again your article was great.

    • Dear Vanessa,
I am interested in, your post because it brings up a conversation that has recently been really talked about. I have seen it on the news being broadcasted and I have been really stunned. Kaepernick´s way of showing what he stands up for is unique and shows his courage.
One thing you said that stands out for me is when you added his quoted words, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.” I think this is a very intelligent because you added part as to why he is refusing to honor our country by standing for the national anthem.
Thanks for your project. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because you have talked about a topic that I have been wanting to look into.

    • Hello Vanessa,
I loved this post! I like how you included quotes and even brought in the pros and cons from the article that you read. It shows that you did more research on a topic than watch a football game. You brought up very good arguments for both sides. This is truly a hard decision to make. He is creating talk about this issue because he is so well known, but I really like how he is doing it in a peaceful way. On the other side I have two cousins in the army and I see standing for the flag as a sign of respect to them. If they weren’t out there protecting us we wouldn’t have any of the freedoms we have today. To me I want people to stand for the flag because of my cousins, but I also know that not everyone stands for the flag and he is entailed to his own peaceful protest.

    • I like this post because it talked about police brutality and even famous people are protesting about this not being right in our big world.
