Abortion is one of the most debated topics in America. People constantly fight back and forth on if they should be legal and if they improve public health. Politicians can be elected solely on their views on
“Condoms fail up to 14% of the time” (American Pregnancy Association). Condoms are actually one of the least effective forms of birth control, resulting in around 18 pregnancies per hundred (CDC). In your years of experience, you have gotten lucky. 14% fail rate is better than 89 (the percent of failure just taking your chances) but…[Read more]
One of the problems is that protection doesn’t always work. Also, people are not taught how to correctly use birth control in school or from their parents. Protection does help. Hopefully, people will be more careful in the future.
Thank you for writing this informative post. I would cite the place that you are getting your information from (to make it more credible and to avoid plagiarism). What do you think we can do as a society to keep the rates of depression in youth down to a reasonable level? Why do you think that the rates of suicide and depression keep going…[Read more]
This is a great topic to write about! I suggest the CDC, the WHO, and medical journals to do research for your paper. I hope that the research you find will better inform people so they can know if it is safe, and or beneficial to vaccinate. I would also read specially about the increased rates of autism in rich countries, you may be…[Read more]
My expository writing class is having each student write a research paper. My paper is going to be about the methods that epidemiologists use during an outbreak. Strange topic? Not for me. I want to be an
You wrote an interesting paper. I respectfully disagree with your claim. Abortions are very safe in America, and they provide women with options that concern their future. Are there moral questions? Yes, of course. Abortions are always a difficult choice. I would elaborate on your claims. There was a lack of sources and a lack of…[Read more]
This is a great essay. You ethos was perfect and used a myriad of sources to enforce your point. Gun control is always a difficult problem. Restrictions towards abusers is a good idea. Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. Good job!
With the conflicting political climate in America, some key button issues are in danger of becoming decided too quickly. Abortion is one of the most conflicted issue in the United States and has been since the
This was such an interesting read! I have always been intrigued by the issue of abortion and the moral issues that it sparks. I really appreciated how you addressed several different perspectives such as religious, moral, health and governmental. By reading your essay I was able to see a diverse range of perspectives and form my own opinions.
Good arguments. It so good that you focused on the moral, religious, and safety issues that go along with abortion. I especially like how you focused on the safety of the women because that is a very important argument for pro-choice. You also had good evidence to support your claims.
I really enjoyed reading this piece! You used a lot of evidence that helped to back up your argument and by reading this piece, I learned things about abortion/religion that I did not know before. I am a christian and I am not opposed to abortion. I agree with you on the fact that it should not be a woman’s first choice but that it should be an option to all women. This essay was a great read because I was able to see another perspective on abortions that was very informative.
I completely agree with your stance. I appreciated how you were able to summarize a very complex issue, while still using an abundant amount of evidence. It’s hard to see other sides when you have a strong opinion on the topic, but you were able to share a variety of side without too much bias.
I really enjoyed your post about abortion. You brought up some very good points about abortion and why it should be kept legal. It is most defiantly the women choice and it always should be the women choice. I really liked your essay because it showed the full scope and you considered all sides of the abortion argument. Do you think that there are ways we could prevent abortion altogether? I found this very interesting site that showed me the pros and cons side of abortion. http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/conditions/depression-teens
Your piece was very intriguing. I could tell you took a lot of time researching your issue which is greatly appreciated. The way you addressed several religious beliefs and statistics which was beneficial to me because I don’t know much about the topic. Also, I’m impressed by your voice as a writer for you weren’t really biased.
Schadenfreude is such a descriptive word. I can see why you would have selected it. This is one of the most specific words! Next time I would be sure to say that you do not like to take pleasure in other’s pain. But still good overall.
This group of words is amazing! It’s like I can hear your voice speaking. An example of how these words are impacted your life might make the essay better, but otherwise it was great. I love the image you choose. Perfect description.
Some words are amazing. Words like ambivalent, siege, or steadfast. My favorite of these brilliant words? I adore the word adore. It depicts warmth and pure feeling. It is not about anything physical, nor is it
This is an incredible and beautiful post. I completely agree with what you said about adoration being different type of love. And I agree that it is the post pure kind. I absolute loved how you said adoration is not a physical kind of love, that is what makes it so beautiful.
This is a youth-powered publishing platform that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It’s easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other’s work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it’s been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
There are over 8,000 posts and over 13,000 comments by young people on the site on topics as diverse as the American Dream, Shakespeare, and sports as well as original poems and stories.
Youth Voices is a platform for youth to write about their interests, both in school and outside of school: what they are reading, what their hobbies or future careers might be, what they enjoy in their spare time. Like all of us, students follow our national leadership and form opinions. They are also welcome to write about those topics as well.
Youth Voices is fully non-partisan and welcomes youth of all types, from all regions, and with all viewpoints. Educators support youth in writing and thoughtfully responding to each other through the use of commenting guides, using tags to show common interests, playlists to support self-guided inquiry; opinions expressed by writers are their own.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
