Mary commented on the post, Conservation and our Role in It
Hi Kira! Your post is very interesting because I am passionate about saving our earth and the species that inhabit it. I am pleased to see the long list of organizations trying to combat mass extinction, but do you believe they will succeed? Can humanity change or reverse the damage we’ve done? It is alarming to realize that the cause of the next…Read More

Mary commented on the post, Cats Can Be Shockingly Smart
Hi Brandon, your post was very entertaining to read! I can really see how much you love your cat and I admire that. I believe that domesticated pets do have emotions towards their human owners which is astounding because there must be a similarity in humans’ and pets’ brains. This reminds me of the dog in Japan who waited for his owner at a train…Read More

Because the sun is expanding, the distance between the sun and earth is decreasing, so earth is moving away from the habitable zone. Rene Heller, a member of the Canadian Astrobiology Training Program, writes,

Mary commented on the post, Shark Finning
Abby,
Your article shocked me. I can’t believe shark finning is ongoing around our world, as I would’ve thought it would be outlawed long ago. Last year in biology, I learned about the significance of prosperous food webs in different ecosystems, such as the ocean. Sharks are considered an apex predator, or the top predator in its ecosystem. Their…Read More - Load More Posts

Is there Another Habitable Planet in the Universe?
- September 20, 2017
Nice job on the post Mary!
I would like to point out it would take millions, perhaps billions, of years for the sun to expand to a size that will begin to affect the goldilock’s zone of the solar system. Also another key phenomenon related to star expansion is when mid sized stars (our Sun) expand they cool off, so maybe earth would be unaffected. Needless to say you did introduce to me some really interesting ideas, especially temporary relocation, on how to save humanity. In the end I somwhat agree with Mr. Berezow. Worrying about finding another habitable planet is something for the far future, right now we need to focus are the issues like climate and poverty that are affecting people today.
