A couple months ago I went to Colorado and a frequent question popped into my head. What is the deal with Marijuana? Political issues and debates have become a strong role in our society today. A frequent debate that I have noticed is the legalization of Marijuana. I have noticed that this topic of conversation has taken a very popular trend, […] View
Gigi! What a great essay topic. I personally love meditation and yoga. It’s great to know all of the positive impacts it can have on one’s health. It’s amazing to know all the impacts it can have on your body but also your mental health. It was very fun and interesting reading about this topic. It was also very well written! Great Job!!
You raised some excellent points on how it is very necessary to fix the problem now. It is very unsettling that there are kids that are getting caught in the mess of heroin. It is way too dangerous to not take the issue seriously and to just act like it isn’t there. This post was very interesting and well written. Great Job!
Throughout political debates I was curious of the subjects that came up and when it came to matters that I wasn’t very informed about I decided to change that. Sure enough one of the more commonly debated s
I am satisfied with your post because you have done research on the subject and you did not just say things based on your opinions without any evidence. I am intrigued that marijuana can help the nervous system as I did not know that before.
In the United States, Marijuana has been illegal since Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 and reaffirmed by the Controlled Substances Act of 1970. These affirmations classify Cannabis as being just as dangerous as Cocaine

I wish you could tell me more but I guess I’ll just have to read the book myself! I think that this book has such a neat concept & I actually love the cover of the book, it’s quite funny! I think that many people have a preconceived idea of high school and popularity so I think this book would be very interesting to read the different…[Read more]
I agree with you that Trump was very offensive with many things that he said, and its true he needs to watch what he says to the people he will be leading. Many people are furious about these outcomes because of the things he has said and the ways he has deeply offended many members of many groups in America. Now, its time for him to…[Read more]
This was very interesting to me because I was personally not aware that funding for the arts was at risk. I have been involved in arts myself for many years, whether that be dance, art etc. I think of it as a therapeutic get away which makes sense that so many kids scored higher on the SAT because compared to the other kids who non-stop…[Read more]
The cost of school is ridiculous. I have schools on my mind that I love and that seem completely ideal for me but the thing I most focus on is the cost. Especially for out of state tuition; I also understand that scholarships and money grants aren’t abundant. Although the sad thing is that the money can be the thing holding you back from…[Read more]
I enjoyed your writing. It was a little different than most of the posts you see around here. It was nice to have a bubbly piece of work. Especially since I could relate to everything. A perfect day sounds pretty much just like you described it with fun, friends, family and happiness. I like reading fun writing and I definitely enjoyed this. Good Job.
Your opens up my mind on the aspect of beauty. I was really moved by the saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the beholders are often influenced by beauty standards that are premade.” This really stuck out to me because of how true it that society has already made up our minds as to what is beautiful even if that isn’t truly how…[Read more]
Gun violence is a huge problem in our society. The fact that gun violence is increasing is very scary. I think one problem is that acquiring a gun is not that difficult. Getting a gun via black market or just getting it from the shop down the street is very easy. That needs to be stopped. There needs to be an increase in gun control and background checks. The illegal supplying of guns and other weapons should be stopped to get guns off the streets. This is a very important issue that needs to be addressed.
I am showing my concerns because there is some people that feel the same way about what you wrote in the post.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “Many argued that our exercise levels would decrease because sports are sometimes the main source of exercise for most of us.” I think this is true because people would not work out if they didn’t have a favorite hobby to do
Your post reminds me of how much practice I have to do for football. I practice 2 hours a day and go home to shoot at the gym. Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because this connection in my life.
I am interested in your essay because me I love sport, I love to play lots of sports. Some sports I play are football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, etc. One thing that stands out to me is when you said, ” Overall, not having sports in our life would result in a very negative outcome for our society.” This stands out to me because without having sports in our society I also believe it will have a huge impact in a negative way to our kids. Your essay reminds me of something that happen to me. One time, When I was young I played for a team called the Spartans. They did not have enough players to get a baseball team and it was to late to join another team. It effected me because I could not play one of my favorite sports.
I am intrigued by your post because it had a lot of good points on athletes and school “What would happen if we didn’t have sports” what i liked about it was the points to where you explained how it made athletes feel overwhelmed with playing a sport and doing work in school.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “Not only would our health be affected but also our economy” I think this is important because this helps kids with obesity and things and help us all as a whole.
Another sentence that I was stunned by: “Some cities have pointed out that without the money that is produced from the local sports events, the would be in debt” This stood out for me because sports bring lots of money to our communities and it keeps a lot of kids out of trouble.
Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. I rememeber when we had a discussion about how they had talked about sports doing us well and our community in after school when they were thinking about stopping after school programs.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because this post caught my attention on the way you put sports and school with the right information. I liked it a lot because it showed a lot of ways that school and sports have an effect on how we actually perform in school.
This is a youth-powered social network that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It's easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other's work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it's been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
