What i observe in the first image is a black man in a black lives matter protest holding a poster saying “ Hands up don’t shoot” stating the quote on police brutality how every encounter with a cop a black
I’m interested in your story due to the fact that I also relate to it in many ways.
I never considered myself a writer either, but as time went by I realized there’s so much I had to express, so I started writing and pouring my heart out and it has become my creative outlet to express myself and connect more with others. Writing has…[Read more]
Mental health has always been stigmatized since forever. Many people live with mental health issues. Some may not even know the correct terminology to what they are going through and believe they are going crazy.
The music has a metaphorical meaning but not so subtle , it’s giving out the message on how we are being controlled and used by this capitalist country/world overall , there was a stanza that stood out
The image displays a descendant of native Americans protesting against how the country always uses their culture and the history behind it as a mascot as if its a joke appropriating their culture and using it as
What I can gather from the image , Is displaying a women march protesting for equality , posters are insinuating for women to unite to stand together and as I believe, stand up for each other hold each other down
Mariely, I too think that women need to stand together to fight for issues that oppress us. We are often times viewed as inadequate and are not taken as seriously as men are in positions of power. Although throughout the last few decades or so the injustices women have faced seemed to have lowered, we are continuously patronized. I think you’d really enjoy this article https://nationswell.com/womens-equality-day/ I had a greta time reading your post, hope to read more from you. Thank you
The image displays a message saying “ENGLISH IS OUR LANGUAGE NO EXECTIONS LEARN IT “ if English is their language and they want people to learn it then why is there an error with the grammar , why do they wan
The billboard sign displays a subliminal message/ joke addressing “ TEXT AND DRIVE …..WATHAN funeral home “ which means you’re leading yourself to death and straight to a funeral home if you text and drive
I completely agree with this article, because texting and driving is very dangerous and is one of the leading causes of car accidents. It takes your eyes off of the wheel and can cause people to crash much easier. I agree that it needs to stop and that people should put their phones on do not disturb when they drive them help prevent this.
Mariely, I really like this post. I feel like texting and driving is one of the most dangerous things out there. No one can multitask, even if they think that they can. It is becoming a very life threatening thing that teens do just to respond to their friends. No text is worth dying over. I found a great website that can help you further your research. https://www.teendriversource.org/teen-crash-risks-prevention/distracted-driving/cell-phones This website shows the different ways we can refrain from our phones while driving such as texting someone back before you start to drive and check in with parents to show that you are safe when you get to a destination. Being safe is way better than being sorry.
I found your post very informative and interesting. It is a very relevant topic for people today and most kids can relate to this because they find themselves looking at their phones while driving more often than not. I agree that texting and driving causes most accidents and leads to death, which makes texting and driving of little importance compared to your life. Showing adds and billboards like these are helpful, but how can we say they are making change when we continue to hear of accident and deaths due to texting and driving. We need to find more productive and effective ways to stop texting and driving. Here’s an article that I found that I think will give more insight on this topic. https://www.teendriversource.org/teen-crash-risks-prevention/distracted-driving/cell-phones
Mareily, I agree with you on this topic and I realize that most people have no clue that when they are doing this that it has such a big impact on other people’s lives. At the bottom is a link that could help you out with this.
I agree with everything you mentioned in this article. Texting and driving is very dangerous, especially at this day and age. The technological advancements are definitely positive but also lead to problem like these. Apple and big corporations should put a better feature rather than just do not disturb mode. This will prevent accidents related to distracted driving.
Here is an article about the effects of cell phones and driving
Hey Mariely, the topic you chose is so very important in todays society. Technology has advanced so much in the past decade and it has honestly just become more of a distraction. Cars are now compatible with phones which is another distraction added to the list. My point is that no matter what you drive or how long you’ve driven you are always putting your life at big risks while texting and driving. Here is a link to a similar topic. https://www.edgarsnyder.com/car-accident/cause-of-accident/cell-phone/cell-phone-statistics.html
My position on my sleeping schedule is that i’m doing just fine , it may not be healthy but i do what i have too all the time even more as a fact , i may need more sleep and that’s why i’m always falling asleep
I am amazed at your “Sleepless” comment because I learned about what happens if you don’t sleep your eight hours a day. I am from Mexico but I live in California. One phrase I liked was where he says “he time even more as a fact, i may need more sleep and that’s why I’m always falling asleep but i have no problem with it its my daily schedule and I’m used to it, I just don’t be sleepy at night ”I like the purchaser the same as you but some people say it is bad I think that in some ways we are the same but sleep more because it is bad. Thank you for your comment I hope you keep posting more to continue telling them what your favorite things are

I am very impressed with your your post “Let Things Out” because you’re a very nice human being and very talented.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “I like writing; I just have a lot to express and when I think I’m done expressing there’s more I want to say so I think I can write forever about the things I am passionate about” . I think I can relate because I spend a plethora of time writing poems and it connects because i always have more to say.
Another sentence that I can relate was: “It has also made me way too mature too soon but I’m grateful for it; this way I have been able to be there for people in ways that I didn’t expect and I embrace it to the fullest”.This stood out for me because I had went through situation that made mature and now i see life with a different perspective.
Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. One time I went for vacation to Dominican Republic and something bad happened to me. In DR there’s barely any traffic lights , so I was crossing the street and got hit my motorcycle. Thank God I didn’t break a bone but I was really hurt.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because you are great at writing and grabbing people’s attention.
Thank YOU, i’m glad i was able to inspire you to look closer into your background and embrace it tho it takes times ,always try to be you ,take your time. Never thought i would of intrigued someone with my writing so,thank you.
This is a youth-powered publishing platform that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It’s easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other’s work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it’s been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
There are over 8,000 posts and over 13,000 comments by young people on the site on topics as diverse as the American Dream, Shakespeare, and sports as well as original poems and stories.
Youth Voices is a platform for youth to write about their interests, both in school and outside of school: what they are reading, what their hobbies or future careers might be, what they enjoy in their spare time. Like all of us, students follow our national leadership and form opinions. They are also welcome to write about those topics as well.
Youth Voices is fully non-partisan and welcomes youth of all types, from all regions, and with all viewpoints. Educators support youth in writing and thoughtfully responding to each other through the use of commenting guides, using tags to show common interests, playlists to support self-guided inquiry; opinions expressed by writers are their own.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
