• Dear Julissa:

I am amazed by the image I can picture in your poem, “My View Of the East River,” because of the sentence when I was little, I would sit out on my balcony with my feet up on the railing at sunset.

One line that stands out for me is, “ Whenever i’m on my balcony I feel kind of relaxed and peaceful because i’m away from…[Read more]

  • Dear Elijah :

I am happy to know that you feel the same way as I feel about military needing more benefits. Your post, “Military pension,” is important because after serving all those tough times I believe military people deserve more benefits.

    • Lucky,
I think it’s great that you’re interested in the army and how well it works. It’s true it is very strict because it’s designed to teach you discipline and respect. It’s also interesting that you’re thinking of these high level questions about the military. For example, “are mental health issues addressed in the military?” This is good question to ask because they go through dangerous and traumatic things on a regular basis so being able to see if they are being taken care of is something good to think about. Here’s an article from theatlantic I think you’d might like about the need for people in the military to receive psychological help. (https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2013/01/the-urgent-need-for-confidential-psychological-care-for-us-military/266381/) I really enjoyed this article and hope to see more writing from you soon.

I am interested in your bio because it is hard to imagine what it is like being the only child in a house.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “They don’t live with me. I’ve always wanted younger siblings so I’ve always felt lonely.” I think this is a little sad because I am really close to my older sister and we li…[Read more]
