Griffen, I think activity isn’t decreasing as greatly as states. It is possible that kids are choosing other sports like hockey or lacrosse. Hockey in the US has grown tremendously and last years top pick in the NHL came from Arizona. Kids may be less active but they also may be playing other sports outside the top four.
Dear Tatiana, I was in complete shock when he won. I think he has divided us even more when I thought it wasn’t possible. Our country is so divided people won’t even listen to the other side it is crazy.
Josh, I really enjoyed reading your post. I am not quite sure if these are all addressed to the same person or not. But either way I enjoyed it. And if they are all to the same person, I liked how it is written that although you may not like certain qualities in an individual, there are some decent ones in them as well.
I think we need to act as fast as possible. People like Elon Musk have been very helpful by creating many great ideas however we need our congress to act fast and create policy to transfer over to renewable energy. I am just afraid it will be too late.
Tanner, I agree with you. I find it ridiculous schools can make loads of money off of sales of jerseys for a particular player but the athlete gets nothing, not even possible scholarship money. I also found it ridiculous back when they made the “NCAA Football” video games that the guys on the cover got nothing. They are the cover of a video game,…[Read more]
Sallie, I agree we need to take action to fix this problem. We could provide programs to those in need to help them with the costs. Also we need to lower the cost of tuition as a whole, it is ridiculous. Sadly this issue is not really on the government’s agenda.
Hi Ariana, I really liked reading your post! As a high school senior I am a bit worried about the future and the costs of college. I don’t want to have my life be controlled by debt I racked up from learning. I want to be able to enjoy my life after college. We need to do something but I feel it will be too late to benefit myself and others in…[Read more]
Sid, For me as a liberal the choice wasn’t so hard, on one side you have this awful man who has said such terrible things and promised to carry policies that would hurt our nation. Yes Hillary does have the email problem but I just it blown up its not as bad as everyone makes it sound. However she had proposed policies that would benefit our…[Read more]
Aleksandra, I feel that the result of the election has given the alt-right people a mandate to say what ever they want and be able to be as racist as they can be. I think people see Trump saying such terrible things and they think they can do the same thing. Hopefully he will only be there for four years.
Louis, I agree that Pruit his a threat to our environment also. I think this administration simply does not care about about the environment. For instance trump says that climate change is hoax created by the Chinese. Our generation is going to stuck with the many mistakes from past generations and it will be up to use to fix them.
This is a youth-powered publishing platform that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It’s easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other’s work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it’s been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
There are over 8,000 posts and over 13,000 comments by young people on the site on topics as diverse as the American Dream, Shakespeare, and sports as well as original poems and stories.
Youth Voices is a platform for youth to write about their interests, both in school and outside of school: what they are reading, what their hobbies or future careers might be, what they enjoy in their spare time. Like all of us, students follow our national leadership and form opinions. They are also welcome to write about those topics as well.
Youth Voices is fully non-partisan and welcomes youth of all types, from all regions, and with all viewpoints. Educators support youth in writing and thoughtfully responding to each other through the use of commenting guides, using tags to show common interests, playlists to support self-guided inquiry; opinions expressed by writers are their own.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
