    • Hello Joseph!
I think it’s awesome that you’re delving into the world of AI for you explanatory essay! Both of my parents are involved in CS, so often times I get to hear about the current AI and technology leaps and bounds that our society is taking. I never really considered the intent behind AI, and it is interesting to hear that the main goal is to do jobs that we can already do, but more efficiently. I think it would be a good ideas to look at Moore’s Law (https://www.newsweek.com/future-technology-uncertain-moores-law-comes-end-807546). While it doesn’t specifically pertain to the development of AI, it does discuss the exponential growth of technology that our world faces.

Joseph commented on the post, Divergent

    Celeste,
This is a pretty interesting story you have here. Divergent was quite a good book but there were quite a few things wrong with it, which you address. I like your serum solution and the idea of waking up from an oppression. This post and the book definitely have an impact on me and my perception of what is going on around me in the world.

  • Elena,
The title of this post says it all. It’s hard to believe that someone could actually believe the earth is flat… but well, people do. I would like to read more about this and better understand how and why people believe the earth is flat.
Here is an interesting website, titled “The Flat Earth Society”. I think it’ll be fun looking into…Read More

    • Joseph,
I very much enjoyed reading this summary and your ideas about the dangers on AI. The topic is so interesting, especially for someone who is going to study computer science. I liked how you talked about how some of the greatest minds in history also carry the concern of AI for the future. I also thought that the analogy of AI being like a demon we are releasing interesting. I can agree that it is worrying since we don’t know what exactly we are getting into by continuously evolving computers and technology. Here is an article about the dangers of artificial intelligence, including autonomous weapons, social manipulation, and invasion of privacy: https://www.forbes.com/sites/bernardmarr/2018/11/19/is-artificial-intelligence-dangerous-6-ai-risks-everyone-should-know-about/#68db3c622404.

    • This post was interesting. It kind of reminds me of 1985 because the technology was smart enough to listen to people. That could also be true in our lives when we don’t know it.

    • Joe,
Very interesting topic as AI has become weirdly present in our world in places we wouldn’t imagine. I liked the concept that the innovation of AI will be exponential and not linear as it is a frightening thought to imagine. I am interested to hear why there is so much intrigue with AI outside the sector of atomization.

  • Carla,
I think this is an interesting post. I think it is very true that students are prone to cyberbullying and it should be stopped. This will most definitely lead those students affected to feel excluded in their own school. However, a public school that follows all rules given to other public schools have to abide by students’ rights of free…Read More
