Hey there! I really enjoyed your piece, and found it very informative. I had no idea that when kids have their phones taken away, they may show signs similar that of drug addiction withdrawals. That is absolutly crazy to me, and very alarming. I think that technology is really hurting the youth (kids in elementary school). I have definitely seen…[Read more]
hi there! I agree with your thinking that technology has made our generation lazier. Yes there are so many pros to the recent advances in technology, but it also has hurt society. I think that nowadays, childhood is very different than what it used to be like. I see kids being almost addicted to their phones, instead of going outside and running…[Read more]
Writing this research paper was a journey. For me, picking my topic was quite easy. The brain has always fascinated me, and with all the sexual assault charges coming out, I put them together and picked what I
My research is on the effects of sexual assault on the brain. I first decided that I needed to research if sexual assault even had an affect on the brain, and the answer to that is: yes it does. I then looked up
In my expository writing class, we have been assigned a research paper. It was hard to pick a topic I wanted to write about, so I asked myself, what interests you? So I started thinking, and I decided I want to
Lately, in the news there has been lots of discussion around the topic of taking a knee during the national anthem. An NFL player, Kaepernick, took a knee during the national anthem in August of last year (2016).
hello there:) I found your piece very comforting. I agree that love is incredibly powerful, I feel like humans wouldn’t be anything without love. I think that loving someone is a very vulnerable thing, because you are opening yourself up to someone, and you have to hope they accept you and cherish you and not break you. Love is scary but it is…[Read more]
hello! This was very interesting to read, and also incredibly relatable. I am too a senior in high school, and I find myself procrastinating all the time. all the time. I find myself staying up the night before a big test, cramming information into my brain. I too wonder if procrastination is something everybody has always “suffered with,” or if…[Read more]
hi! I really liked your piece, and how you decided to challenge societies standards. I agree with your thought that our generation is quite boring, because everybody is just like everybody else. I think we need to start finding uniqueness beautiful and that we need to start praising variety. We need to know that it is okay to be different, and…[Read more]
Hello! I really liked your piece, and how you are bringing awareness to drug abuse. I think drug abuse related deaths are not talked about enough, and I really do not think that enough action has taken place. As you said, the homeless are affected by drug abuse, but they are the one’s who can’t get help for their “problem,” because the sad truth…[Read more]
Hi! This was a very interesting read. The human brain and mind has always fascinated me, especially when it comes to mental illnesses. Phobia’s are of course something I would not wish on anybody, but they are also very interesting to learn about (I think). I did not know that there are three classes of phobias, but it makes sense that there are,…[Read more]
Hello:) I completely agree with your position about happiness and money. Money can buy you whatever you want: an iPhone, food or a plane ticket to Paris. Though money cannot always buy you happiness, but it can you buy you an experience (as you said), and an experience can bring you happiness. I feel though that some people have trouble accepting…[Read more]
This was very interesting to read. I agree with what you’re saying, about how the human brain almost likes being sad. On social media lately, I have seen so many tweets or posts about being sad or how being happy is lame. I feel like being sad is comforting to some people, which is strange to think. Though, it is way easier to be sad than happy. I…[Read more]
I think this is a very interesting subject matter. At my school, there have been many debates on “is it okay, or is it not?” I think that it is the football player’s right, to take a knee during the national anthem, but I know I would never take a knee during the national anthem. I too agree that the government is not handling this situation way.…[Read more]
I love music. That is why it is one of my favorite words. I was introduced to the world of music at a very young age. I remember being constantly around music, whether it be my dad playing the guitar, my mom
I am intrigued by your post because i can relate so much. i get lost in the music. my life is literally music everything.
your post reminds me that there are people that enjoy music just as much as me. one time i was having the worst day then i started playing the piano and writing my feelings out and made a song out of it.
thanks for sharing your post. i look forward to seeing more post.
I enjoy reading about your view of music, and the effect it has had on your life, but in the beginning i feel like the structure of the paragraph was a little scattered and unfinished and i feel like if it was structured differently it would make the paragraph really strong. One thing that you said that i really enjoyed was when you gave multiple examples of the music that surrounded you when you were growing up. It added a more personal element to the essay which makes it more intriguing to read and i really enjoyed it.
I really liked reading about your interest in music and how you came to love it. I think its awesome that your family is musically inclined and you have decided too continue that in the family. I as myself love music, it takes away all the stress and helps motivate me to do my best. Music has helped me through tough times and I really appreciate it. I’m glad I found someone who feels the same way towards music as I do.
This is a youth-powered social network that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It's easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other's work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it's been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
