Coronavirus has had a huge impact on our daily lives. With everyone having to do social distance many people are not going out and just staying in there house. I have thought about how many places are closing and
Vegetarianism has been around ever since Ancient Greece (570 BC – 495 BC) There were many philosophers back then that talked about how to be stewards of the earth not consumers of them. A vegetarian diet can h
Looking at the detrimental environmental impacts of animal farming and consumption is mind blowing. If eating meat was necessary for humanity’s health well being, I would be most tolerant to meat eaters. However the health benefits of a vegetarian diet is enough to change my mind. So why are people still eating meat? I wonder if it is a meat preface or convince issue or if it is more of a financial burden to adopt a vegetarian diet.
I really like your argument and how you use not only evidence from our world today, but all the way back to the ancient civilizations. There is a lot we can learn from that. Your argument was easy to follow, well supported, and straight forward! I think you would enjoy this article https://time.com/4266874/vegetarian-diet-climate-change/ . It is about how we can all decrease our carbon footprint by following a plant based diet!
Hello Sydney! I really enjoyed reading your post because it relates to us because we have to wear uniforms to school. I think uniforms are a good thing because you don’t have to worry what you are going to wear everyday. You also said some good points and here is an article that talks about it a little more. https://school-uniforms.procon.org
There has always been controversy surrounding the topic of zoos. There are questions of it being morally okay to keep animals captive or is it saving them? Many animals that do go to zoos are going extinct from
I think that you make a good point but in my opinion Zoos do a lot more bad than good, and that they would be fine if proper steps are made to make the living for the animals better and how they get the animals better. I do agree they offer education and when the animals were ones that were injured and are now in living safer it is fine. But many zoos don’t offer that and make sure that the animals weren’t taken without reason from the wild. I think that this article gives a good argument for both sides and makes important points https://ww2.kqed.org/education/2019/10/01/are-zoos-good-or-bad-for-animals/
Hi Sydney! This was really interesting to read about, I agree with you on how everyone talks about climate change but there is nothing being done to change that. I already knew about climate change but this educated me a little more on it. I found this website on more about climate change. https://www.climate-change-guide.com/stop-climate-change.html

Hi sydney I really enjoyed reading this! That is very sad that plastic is making up 40 percent of our ocean surface. But I think you had some good facts in here and helped me be more educated on this topic. I found this really interesting article about plastic affecting our oceans. https://www.biologicaldiversity.org/campaigns/ocean_plastics/

This is a youth-powered publishing platform that was started in 2003 by a group of teachers from local sites of the National Writing Project.
We merged several earlier blogging projects. We have found that there are many advantages to bringing students together in one site that lives beyond any particular class. It’s easier for individual students to read and write about their own passions, to connect with other students, comment on each other’s work, and create multimedia posts for each other. Further, it’s been exciting for us to pool our knowledge about curriculum, connected learning, and digital literacies.
There are over 8,000 posts and over 13,000 comments by young people on the site on topics as diverse as the American Dream, Shakespeare, and sports as well as original poems and stories.
Youth Voices is a platform for youth to write about their interests, both in school and outside of school: what they are reading, what their hobbies or future careers might be, what they enjoy in their spare time. Like all of us, students follow our national leadership and form opinions. They are also welcome to write about those topics as well.
Youth Voices is fully non-partisan and welcomes youth of all types, from all regions, and with all viewpoints. Educators support youth in writing and thoughtfully responding to each other through the use of commenting guides, using tags to show common interests, playlists to support self-guided inquiry; opinions expressed by writers are their own.
If being part of such a community makes sense to you, we invite you to join us. We welcome all youth and any teacher interested in having students publish online and participate in the give and take of a social network like Youth Voices.
