When most of the mexicans came in the 1900's they had to build their own community to have some sort of job. When some of the schools starting having almost an equal amount of white kids and mexican the parents felt threatened.

A lot of the mexicans worked in the packing house or the citrus orchard and by the 1930's there were nearly half of students that were Mexicans at the school and it threatened the white parents.
