Dear Akeal,
I am surprised by your post, “ The Contributing Privilege,” because your post was about 7 years ago and nowadays people of different races are still being treated the same as if it were 7 years ago. There has been some good change, there isn’t as much discrimination but it still happens and that is why I’m surprised because this topic isn’t new to our society, yet there hasn’t been enough change throughout the years.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “Therefore although there aren’t that many black people in the U.S., they seem to have been the second largest group killed by police.” I think this is crazy because the fact that you said there’s 13% blacks in the U.S. population but yet blacks are the second most killed by police just proves how the discrimination there was and the privilege that cops took advantage of.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because I like that you bring the facts and you prove what you bring, unlike others who just state their opinion. I also like that at the end of your post, you mention that you are going to research even more and into other related topics.

The Contributing Privilege

Akeal, I thought that what you had to say about the discrimination that is going on in our society was very moving. I would also have to say that when you stated the fact about how African Americans are such a small percentage of the population, yet they are the second largest group being killed by police. The piece that you wrote I admire very very much, it really made me open my eyes and think about how African Americans are truly being treated.
