This one is for those of you living the ¨big snooze.¨
And for those of you sleeping your way through life.

Life goes on.

You can fall off, but the merry-go-round
Keeps
Moving
And trust me you need the merry-go-round,
much
more
than it needs you.
And in the end,
You can choose,
To hop back on,
Or get left in the dust.

Because life goes on.

There will be times,
When it seems all is lost,
And all hope for success,
Has long since vanished,
But you must be strong,
carry on,

And remember, that life goes on.

Things won’t stop for your pauses and procrastinations,
and they won’t stop for your confusion or fear.
They will continue right along without you.
Whether you play an active part,
or not.

Life really does go on.

Once you realize this,
You can understand,
That when good things fall apart,
It leaves room for even better things,
To fall together.
Soak this up,
And accept it for all its unknowns.
Keep an open mind,
And attack this life with all you have to give.
Because the truth is,
You really only hurt yourself,
When you live as the smallest person you can be,
instead of the biggest.

Because to sum life up in three words:
it.
goes.
on.

In this assignment, we were asked to write a poem with a repeating phrase and message. The poem is also supposed to have a bigger meaning. For my poem, I first brainstormed different phrases to go in between my stanzas. The one I decided on was ¨Life Goes on.¨ I enjoyed this assignment because I like writing poetry and I was able to really express myself. When I read this poem, it makes me think about the deeper meaning of life and the point of living. When other people read this poem, I hope they also question these things. Remember, life will always go on.

Dear Gaby,
I am motivated by your poem, “Life Goes On” because life really does go on and honestly, sometimes I forget that. Your poem felt like a small wake up call which was really cool because it shows how impactful poetry is. To me the main message of your poem is that we should be doing more because life is going to go on so it’s important we move with it by just being the best we can. I know this because of the lines, “You really only hurt yourself, When you live as the smallest person you can be,
instead of the biggest.” Another set of lines that stood out to me was when you wrote, “And accept it for all its unknowns”.I think this line is thought provoking because it validates the uncertainty that is way too often felt. To me, it is basically saying that it’s okay to not be sure of everything all the time. I really liked how you used the literary device of anaphora when you repeated the line “life goes on”. I think this line made your poem strong because you gave many definitions of what this means. Doing so also emphasized the importance of the fact that “life goes on”. Your poem sends an important message about basically not giving up because what’s the point of doing so when you can do more. Thanks for your poem. I look forward to seeing what you make next. Your poem was fascinating and it was cool know that you like poetry too. I’m interested in seeing what your next topic is.

Dear Gaby:
I am inspired by your poem, “Life Goes On,” because you are trying to give hope to all of the readers. This poem makes me feel happy because you seem to be like a very optimistic person. To me the main message of your poem is to keep moving on because even through the bad you have to keep pushing yourself. I know this because of all the motivational words you used in this poem. One line that stands out for me is,“But you must be strong, carry on,” I think this line is beautiful because it gives people strength and hope.I really liked how you used the literary device of metaphors when you said, ¨You can fall off, but the merry-go-round keeps moving¨. I think this line is powerful because you are basically saying even if we fail we must get back up and keep going. Your poem reminds me of a poem that I once read. This poem is called “Still I Rise” by Maya Angelou and it is similar to your poem. In the poem, a line that relates to yours is “Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise”. This relates to when you say life goes on because it is okay to leave the past behind. Your poem sends an important message about leaving the past behind because you remind the readers that life goes on. Thanks for your poem. I look forward to seeing what you make next. Personally I think this is one of the most motivational poems I’ve ever read. Hopefully, you write more poems in the future so many more people can read your work.
Sincerely,
Valerie Rodriguez

Dear Gaby,
I am pleasant by your poem, “life goes on,” because it has a rhythm to it when you’re reading it. Also I like how it talks about life going on because in someone who was in situation maybe they would lean on your poem to show them that no matter what life goes on and they’ll get pass the situation. I like how in your poem you mentioned, “Keep an open mind” because to me this is saying to always think greater of a situation and always be aware of what’s going on. Your poem sends an important message about staying strong and remembering that life goes on because even if you’re put in situations you should remember that the problems will go away and life will continue. One that stands out for me is, “when good things fall apart, It leaves room for even better things,To fall together.” I think this line is powerful because it has a lot of meaning. It shows that things will fall into place and get better. Thanks for your poem. I look forward to seeing what you make next. It was a great poem and has a lot of meaning.
Sincerely,

Gaby,
Your poem really stood out to me since you are telling people to be strong and not give up with life. I think it was strong because many people need to hear “when good things fall apart, It leaves room for even better things,To fall together.” since people have some small moments in life and they want to give up with their lives. I think your poem is stating a really strong message which makes it interesting. You are a really good writer poems don’t really catch my attention but your poem was really good. Great job!
