In the article, “Is It Fair to Pay Teens Less Than Adults?” (Upfront, Unknown, 2022) I learned that some places pay teens less than adults. But it is not really fair to have teens who are young, working long hours. It can be bad for society as well, as teens can drop out of high school and join jobs all of a sudden. However, it is not fair to discriminate against teens who need to work for money to pay expenses. They may need jobs to pay for college, textbooks, loans, and other very important things.

I think it is not fair to pay teens less than adults, as well as discriminate against them. They may need a job to help their parents or themselves. Colleges may be expensive for them to go. It may be a good idea to have teens working as those who are older than them can no longer work and retire, instead of working and working every day.

Do you think this is fair?

Dear Karen,

I am very interested in your post, “Is It Fair To Pay Teens Less Than Adults?” because I can see the point you were trying to make. I strongly believe in what you had to say because teens need money as much as adults do. Teens also struggle because they pay for college along with all the equipment and some help their parents. You can say it’s unjustifiable to pay teens less. One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is, “However, it’s not fair to discriminate against teens who need to work for money to pay expenses.” I think this is relevant because indeed, teens need to be paid equally. If not, it could affect their education including their way of life. Truth is, teens are as important as any other person working in the same environment. Equal pay is more than a necessity, it’s a requirement. Other than that, thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because you made a very strong point here. You know how to explain and I like how you’re interested in teens getting equally paid too.

Dear Karen,

I would agree with your post regarding teens not being paid equally as adults. The reason for this Is that it is true, teens need jobs to get money so they can pay there textbooks for college and some don’t get financial aid or they need to pay for rent wherever there staying. Another reason from experience is that i know somebody who needed to get hired for a job to help their single parent pay the apartment rent. SO i believe more people should pay attention to this topic.

Dear Karen :
I am well interested in your post, “Is It Fair To Pay Teens Less Than Adults?,” I believe teens should be treated equally with adults. This is because teens work just as hard as adults do, they both work the same long hours so both deserve equal pay. One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “However, it is not fair to discriminate against teens who need to work for money to pay expenses.” I think this is accurate because there are many teens out there that are trying to provide for their family and expenses just like adults do.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because of your post about teen equality. I hope to see you write more about this subject in the future.
